The authority said on Wednesday, Nov. 20, that tourism revenue growth in 2024 was 3% above 2023 levels, calling the growth a “historic milestone.” According to a press release from the authority’s public relations firm, numbers from January to August for both years were compared.
Revenue gains, the release said, were based on 2% tourism tax revenue through August 2024. These figures indicated that, when compared to January to August 2023, which was considered an “all-time record year,” the 2024 revenue figures for the Wildwoods came in 3% higher.
In addition, direct tourism spending through August increased more than $374 million from January to August 2024 over the same period in 2023. The Wildwoods’ 2% tourism tax revenue through August 2024 increased by $325,439, which is a 4% increase over 2023.
The press release credited a 2024 marketing and public relations campaign centered around the “Wildwood Days” theme song. The campaign showcased the Wildwoods as “the ultimate vacation destination that offers everything visitors could desire for a fun-filled getaway, all on one five-mile island.”
This year’s theme, the release says, focuses on “the transformative experience of ‘Losing Yourself’ in the moment and ‘Finding Yourself’ on your perfect Wildwoods vacation.”
The campaign showcased features found in the Wildwoods that include the area’s expansive, free beaches, the iconic 38-block boardwalk, which includes three amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions, and three beachfront waterparks.
The release also noted the 150-plus events and festivals held in the Wildwoods every year.
