Barefoot is back.
The new, multi-day country music festival that was supposed to launch on the Wildwood beach in June — only to be delayed a year by the pandemic — announced Tuesday its 2021 headliners.
Leading the 2021 Barefoot Country Music Fest lineup will be pop-country superstars Carrie Underwood and Dan and Shay, as well as southern rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd — all of whom were set to play the 2020 event had it gone on. But a new act was added this time: country-jam stalwarts Zac Brown Band, who will replace previous headliner Blake Shelton.
The festival, which will also feature around 30 additional acts across three days and nights, has been rescheduled for Aug. 20 to 22, 2021. Three-day tickets start at $199 each before fees and are available now.
Whether the event actually takes place will again depend on the state of the pandemic.
“With this being our inaugural event in Wildwood, we want to make sure we do it right. Moving an event of this magnitude is a massive undertaking and we appreciate everyone who helped us with the decision and the transition to August for 2021,” said Rob Pedlow, organizer of Barefoot Country Music Fest, in a statement. “We understand holding the festival is contingent on state and national guidelines for mass gatherings and will continue to monitor the situation with local officials and healthcare personnel over the next several months.”
Wildwood mayor Pete Byron added: “It is vital to continue to stay as flexible and attentive to current conditions as the BCMF team has been.”
With A-list headliners like Underwood, who easily draws 15,000 fans to her solo concerts, coupled with the known success of beach concerts in Atlantic City — which regularly draw over 30,000 patrons – Barefoot stands to be one of the state’s largest music events of 2021, with tens of thousands of concert-goers looking for a good time.
Time will tell if they’ll actually be able to find it.
