Beach Yoga, Paddleboarding, and More Ways to Work Out Down the Shore This Summer

If you’ve been lucky enough to book a shore stay this summer, there are plenty of opportunities to keep moving that don’t involve running miles on the sand (though, there’s nothing stopping you from doing that too). Whether you prefer to be in a studio or socially distanced outdoors, there are classes for every type of fitness buff and some to cater to every level of comfort.

Avalon

Avalon Fitness
Avalon jams so many class offerings into their studio that some spill out to the boardwalk or beach. Classes range from barre to HIIT to athlete agility training. Classes are sold in packs, or you can purchase an unlimited season pass. 3206 Dune Drive, Avalon.

Avalon Surf Camp
Don’t sleep on the benefits of surfing. From paddling to balancing on the board, you can get a full body cardiovascular workout. You also don’t have to venture to Hawaii’s North Shore to learn. Avalon offers private and semi-private lessons and camps led by instructors with years of experience surfing around the world. Classes are offered for adults and kids. 12th Street Beach, Avalon.

Sol Luna Yoga
Sol promises a non-competitive environment for their yoga sessions, whether you’re tuning in on Zoom or showing up in studio — and that promise isn’t just for grown ups. They also offer fun kids classes that include games and age-appropriate mindfulness exercises. 2819 Dune Drive, Avalon.

Ocean City

Diamond Barre Fitness
Diamond Barre is in northern Ocean City, and it’s just minutes from the sand. Stride Spin and Fitness
This studio offers pre-brunch classes, as well as occasional late afternoon ones, if you prefer to work out before hitting happy hour. There are 30 minute and 45 minute options. Spinnaker North Tower, 3500 Boardwalk, Sea Isle City.

Stone Harbor

Bayside Fitness Club
