When choosing a real estate agent to sell your property, there are many things to consider, and there are many great agents to choose from. When discussing with an agent what your home might sell for if it were listed on the market, be sure to ask the agent WHY they think it is worth what they say it is.
Let's face it: we all want our homes to be worth more than they really are. If you tell the agent that you think your home is worth $500,000, but comparable properties either sold or are actively listed for $450,000, you may simply be told what you want to hear, instead of the honest truth. That agent wants your home to be worth more, too! But, if your home is overpriced, I guarantee you it will sit unnoticed on the market. Your time will be wasted.
