At the center of everything in the Wildwoods, is the Wildwood Boardwalk. Outfitted with carnival games, clustered amusement park rides, and dozens of shops across Morey’s Piers and the rest of the boardwalk, Wildwood is a popular destination for families looking for a mix of both summer activities and relaxed beach time.

On pace with the neighboring towns to the immediate north and south, Wildwood is populated with motels built in the “Doo-Wop” style patented in the mid-20th Century, giving the resort town a nostalgic feel even as some older structures are taken down to make way for newer buildings.

Wildwood also has made great strides upping its food game over the last few years, offering more than the typical carnival food usually so common alongside a blinking Tilt-A-Whirl. Spots like Joe's Fish Co., Stubborn Brothers Beach Bar, and Breakfast in the Sky – where you can get a gourmet brunch while riding a Ferris wheel – make for excellent fuel to keep the fun times going.  Don't forget Bobby Dee's Arcade, a family-friendly game spot that was voted Top Arcade in 2017 by AC Press Readers Poll. 

BEACH TAGS

None required! All beaches in Wildwood – as well as in North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest – are free.

LIFEGUARD HOURS

Wildwood Beach Patrol lifeguards will be on duty Memorial Day Weekend – May 26-28 – and the following weekend – June 2-3. from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Beginning Saturday, June 16, lifeguards will be stationed at a limited number of beaches. The limited beach patrols will remain in effect until the Wildwood Beach Patrol is fully staffed for the summer, which is expected to be by June 23.

The Wildwood Beach Patrol Headquarters is located at Lincoln Avenue at the beach.

BEACH RULES

Access is restricted from 10 p.m. through 6 a.m., May through September.

Surfing is permitted at the Taylor Avenue beach. Swimming is permitted at guarded beaches only (designated by lifeguard flags).

Pets are allowed from October through May, but not during the summer, except at Poplar Street, where there is a dog beach. Animals there must be on a leash and owners must pick up after their pets.

Glass containers, barbecues, skimboards, open fires, feeding seagulls, littering, and alcohol are all illegal.

PUBLIC PARKING

Wildwood parking meters must be fed from May 15 through Oct. 31 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Starting this summer there will be additional paid parking with Wildwood’s new on-beach parking lot near Baker Avenue.

WILDWOOD EVENTS

Festivals, parades, and other activities will flood in and out of Wildwood’s 2.5-mile boardwalk this summer, as well as the flurry of activities associated with the nearby Wildwood Convention Center. The center’s annual NJ State Elk’s Convention is scheduled for May 31 to June 3.

If the area’s architectural history is of interest to you, check out the ‘50s Neon Night Tours that will take place through the summer beginning June 19. There will be $5 yoga classes on the beach offered multiple times throughout the week this summer, while Fox Park will host the Wildwood Beer Festival June 9.
